INTERMEDIATE COURSE IN FASHION ENGINEERING APPAREL DESIGN | 15 WEEKS Join the Faraj Couture Creative Studio for a comprehensive 15-week course focused on patternmaking, tailored for budding Fashion Entrepreneurs across all backgrounds and expertise levels. This program is designed to delve deeper into the world of fashion engineering for aspiring fashion designers. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS COURSE? Explore the essentials of patternmaking, and industry terminology to develop a well-rounded understanding of fashion engineering under the guidance of our experienced fashion director. Throughout this course, you'll be taken through the following modules: 1. How to research designs to create capsule looks based on the theme given by the Fashion Director. 2. How to create a cohesive capsule collection comprising 3 looks derived from your research. 3. Create Fashion Presentation: Develop mood/theme boards, Fabric/Color boards, etc. 4. Learn how to hand-sketch fashion illustrations using a template. 5. Learn how to understand full-body measurements and their proportions. 6. Learn how to drape on a dress form. 7. Learn the fundamentals of Patternmaking (Creating block foundation pattern templates. 8. Learn to fit- understanding garment fit and the use of a model or muses. 9. Learn garment construction terminologies (take-home projects) 10. Take a trip to New York City for a tour of the garment district. COURSE OBJECTIVE: • Familiarize students with fundamental design principles via patternmaking and draping techniques. • Craft 3 complete looks/designs from inception, illustration, patternmaking, cutting, sewing, to fittings on a live model. KEY SKILLS STUDENTS WILL LEARN BY THE END OF THE PROGRAM: • Craft a dress sloper • Create a bodice top with darts • Craft a pencil, Aline, and full circle skirt slopers • Craft a pant and short sloper • Craft a sleeve sloper PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: 1. Completion of our Fashion Sewing Program with approval from our fashion director is required to enroll in this course. 2. Alternatively, entrance into the program is possible with demonstrated prior sewing knowledge, which can be proven by showcasing sewn garments for approval by our fashion director.
